[FR] Peter Asimov est docteur en musicologie de l’université de Cambridge, où il était bénéficiaire d’une Gates Scholarship. Sa thèse, «Comparative Philology, French Music, and the Composition of Indo-Europeanism from Fétis to Messiaen», qu’il a soutenue en 2020, traite de l’influence marquante des échanges intellectuels entre les linguistes, les musicologues, et les compositeurs, sur le modernisme musical français, avec des conséquences jusqu’au «Mode de valeurs et d’intensités» d’Olivier Messiaen. D’origine new-yorkaise, il a obtenu sa licence en littérature comparée (français, sanscrit) à Brown University, puis son Master en musicologie à l’université d’Oxford. Il poursuit ses recherches à l’ULB grâce à une bourse postdoctorale de mobilité de la Fondation Wiener-Anspach.

[EN] Peter Asimov received his doctorate in music from the University of Cambridge, where he held a Gates Scholarship. His thesis, completed in 2020 and titled, ‘Comparative Philology, French Music, and the Composition of Indo-Europeanism from Fétis to Messiaen’, traced how intellectual exchanges between linguists, musicologists, and composers left a lasting imprint on French musical modernism, culminating in Olivier Messiaen’s ‘Mode de valeurs et d’intensités’. Originally from New York City, he holds a master’s degree in musicology from the University of Oxford, and an undergraduate degree in Comparative Literature (French and Sanskrit) from Brown University. His research project at the l’ULB is kindly funded by a postdoctoral mobility grant from the Wiener-Anspach Foundation.)
